Forever Thankful…

Thank You – A polite expression used when acknowledging a gift, service, or compliment, or accepting or refusing an offer or an instance or means of expressing thanks. (Definition from Google)

Today, I am sharing something little on THANKSGIVINGjust appreciating the little things God has done for you, in the past, present or what He is about to do in the future. Sometimes, you just have to be thankful for who He is. Not because, He has done something but just because you know He’s got you.

Many at times, we focus on our “big problems” and forget about the “little good things” happening around us. For example, you woke up today and went through the day, moved around with no accident(s), got something to feed on and probably had people to talk to – but your day, you will tell someone who cares to ask, was bad just because you did not meet your deadline or you didn’t get the pass mark or because you didn’t get the lunch you were craving for today. Yeah, we all do that at times.

Believe it or not, in every waking moment, there is something to be thankful for – could be life, or your meal or family or friends.

It could even be as trivial as having airtime on your phone. Yep, you had extra money to get that, someone was unable to get one balanced diet today.

Being thankful always doesn’t mean there is no “problem” in your life, it just means you remember what God has done and are grateful for it. Looking back on those thinks helps you in building your faith and trust in God for answers to those problems.

Earlier today, I happen to have had a conversation with “a girl in my life”, Kharbbie. It was awesome because amidst all the wrong things we have going on in our lives at the moment, we were still able to recognize the Hand of God in our lives – from the past to the present. We were left wondering what would have become of us had we not Our Husband (Isaiah 54:5), the One who gives beauty for ashes (Isaiah 61:3), the One who restores the most broken of people (Isaiah 61:7) and picks up the rejected ones (2 Corinthians 5:17).

You see, life depends on what or who you decide to focus on.

If you keep your focus on God, you’ll develop the Spirit of thankfulness because you will be able to recognize His Hands and intervention in very “trivial” things in your life. If your focus is on yourself and all the negativity or wrongs you are facing, you will miss the “trivial” things to be thankful for.

So if you’ve been thinking of “WHEN” you should be thankful, let me help you out here – EVERYTIME, in every situation, wherever you find yourself, whether good or bad. If you want a reason as to “WHY” you should be thankful, just take in a deep breath and look around you, listen to the sounds around and reach out to touch something and say something to someone. If you were, able to do at least one of these, you have enough reason to be thankful to God.

I know you may not have what you’ve been praying for, maybe you want a different family or friends or whatever, but just remember, someone, somewhere is praying for what you do not want.

Just thank for even the most unimportant thing you have; it is someone’s topmost request.

Be-grateful

Take a break from whatever you’re doing now and whisper a short word of thanksgiving to God. Just a “Father, thank You” is enough.

Take a minute and say this short prayer:

Dear Lord, I am sorry for all the times I have been ungrateful, for all the times I have focused on the wrong things and missed Your gifts to me. Give me a grateful heart to always see from Your point of view, to be thankful always. Thank You Lord for all You are to me and all You have done for me and are yet to do. Thank You, Lord, thank You.
